Business Studies
Introduction
Business Studies is an option subject at GCSE level, though you will have come
across aspects of it in other subjects before and maybe you have a part-time job
already. In Business you will learn how to survive in the real world - the world
of work. We look at case studies of existing businesses and business situations.
You will have to research to collect information and then analyse it to make
sense of it. You will have the opportunity to design literature of your own to
apply your learning.
There should be opportunities for trips out to see how current companies operate
and how they work together. We look at the combination of commerce and public
sector provision in local towns.
You may also have the chance to set up your own company and make profit of your
own. This might involve making (or buying) and selling products or offering a
service. To succeed you will need drive, attention to detail, a professional
approach and – lots of enthusiasm!
