Geography

Introduction

"We help students make sense of the world. Pupils learn about the worlds physical and human environments. Geography tackles the big issues: environmental responsibility; our global independence; cultural understanding and tolerance; commerce, trade and industry. The world in which we live is likely to change more in the next 50 years than it has ever done so before. Geography explains why, and helps students prepare for those changes."
- Frances Soar, Geographical Association

Here at Cromwell we aim to inspire all our students through a stimulating, informative, varied and topical curriculum. We hope our students leave with knowledge and skills that they will use throughout their lives. We encourage students to take an active interest in their environment through active fieldwork in the local area and beyond.

We are very proud of our exam results over the past 3 years 2006 A*-C was 77.2% and 2005 was 81.7%. The start-up of AS Level Geography at Cromwell, from September 2005, is exciting and will help our students to see where they can take their Geography next. We are currently rolling out A2 studies to Year 13 following strong exam results for the 2006 AS level exams.
