Music
Introduction
We have a thriving Music Department with one full time member of staff and one
part time. There is a main room with pitched percussion instruments, a keyboard
room and practise rooms. The department is also well equipped with modern
recording equipment.
There is an Orchestra and Choir which meet on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
These perform regularly on public occasions and are joined by soloists, both
instrumental and vocal. Other small and individual groups practise in the music
block on a regular basis.
There are concerts at Christmas and in the Summer. In addition, we combine with
all the local junior schools in the annual Rotary "Let’s make Music" Concert
which involves a very large number of pupils and always attracts a large
audience.
We use the Cambridge Instrumental Music Agency (CIMA) for instrumental lessons
and currently provide lessons on Woodwind, Upper Strings, Brass and Guitars.
Parents contribute to the cost of this at the rate of £120 per annum. This can
be paid in monthly instalments by standing order. Year 7 pupils receive the
first half term free! |

Instruments can be hired form the school or from CIMA. Pupils are entered for
and are usually successful in the Associated Board music grade exams.rnings at Neale Wade.
Computer Resources
There has been an exciting development in the Music Department this term with
addition of 5 new computers for recording and notating music.
These computers enable students to record and save their music as well as
multi-tracking their music like in a recording studio. Our Yr. 11's have already
produced excellent GCSE composing coursework on them. They have two software
programmes which are Cubase (Studio 4) which works like a recording studio and
Sibelius 4 which notates and prints out their music.
