Geography
Why study geography at GCSE level?
Geography is the study of where places are and what they are like. It looks at
how people live in different parts of the world and how and why places change.
You will learn about global and local issues. Not only that, geography can offer
a wide range of skills that will be useful now, for the examination, and when
you have left school

Geography gets good examination results nationally and is accepted by almost all
universities and employers.
Geography is a bridge between the arts and the sciences. This gives you greater
flexibility if you decide to go on to further or higher education.
Geography teaches you practical skills like reading a map or road atlas, doing
fieldwork and using equipment to record data.
Geography improves communication skills like report writing, decision making,
analysing data and working in teams on projects. It also involves ICT skills
like word processing, using spreadsheets, using CD-ROMs and the Internet to
receive information.
