Mathematics

     KS3   GCSE Post 16

Introduction

Mathematics: from the Greek mathema; meaning "learning".

Mathematics is more than a language, mathematics is one of the oldest branches of learning in the history of the human race, yet it is still modern and is still developing. as we become interested in mathematics we find that it deepens our understanding of the universe in which we find ourselves.
In the mathematics department we work with the students to develop requiring minds. demonstrating how mathematics is part of the world and how a greater understanding of the subject can enhance lives.

At Cromwell we aim to inspire by providing stimulating, informative and interesting lessons based on the National Curriculum. We use the UKMT Mathematics Challenges from the University of Leeds to develop and enhance those that are gifted and talented, so far with great success; several pupils have now competed in the National and International Olympiads.

Should you have any queries feel free to contact Mr J Parker (head of faculty of Mathematics).
