About the Science Faculty
The faculty has seven laboratories serviced by a large prep room. All teaching
is carried out in labs with the support of two full time lab technicians. Labs
are fully serviced with gas, water and electricity and each lab has an OHP,
class sets of text books and access to ICT facilities through laptops. There is
a huge scope for the use of ICT in science through the use of laptops and
projectors in labs, data-loggers and use of the colleges 6 PC suites.

|
|
|
Develop students awareness of safety issues in and out of the laboratory

At Key Stage 3 students follow an in-house scheme of work based loosely
around the QCA scheme and spotlight science. The curriculum covers all areas of
science from "investigating science" to "earth and space", from the "variety of
life" to "chemical reactions". Science occupies 12% of curriculum time at KS3.
At Key Stage 4 on final written
exams taken at the end of the course. Science occupies 18% (9% for single award)
