The Year 7 tutor team has a variety of experience and skills available for students in year 7 to ask for advice and help with their studies. Form Tutors will be attached to their forms until year 11, with some new additions along the way.

Form tutors have daily contact with your child – if you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact school by either telephone or if possible email. Please email the office with your child’s name and form group and it will be forwarded on to the relevant person.

Welfare Assistant:

Mrs J Black

Each year group has a welfare assistant attached to them. Our welfare assistant is also a cover supervisor so her time is split between covering lessons for absent staff and working with Miss Craske. Mrs Black has many jobs to carry out including speaking to pupils about attendance, contacting parents and admin for the year group as a whole.

The Year 7 Council

There are 14 members of the Year 7 Council – a boy and girl from each form group. These are chosen by students as they learn about democracy on one of the Brainwave Days. Two members of this group have been elected to the full School Council. The Year Council meets with Miss Craske before and after a full School Council meeting to discuss any issues pupils have about school.

Rewards

Students are rewarded by staff for a variety of things, including good effort and pleasing achievement in their work; helpfulness around the college; kindness to other students and making a good contribution to the school community. Individual Departments have their own reward systems and certificates or privileges but in addition the whole school subscribes to the ‘I Behave’ computerised system. This system allows staff to notify parents immediately, via email, when a student has been awarded a point. When students have earned 25 points they are presented with a Bronze Award- a certificate and a badge. Fifty Points leads to a Silver Award, One hundred points equals a Gold Award and Two hundred points equals a Diamond Award.

In addition within the Year we run an inter- form competition. The form with most IBehaves each week receives a certificate in assembly. At the end of each term the winning form receives a special treat.

For Excellent Attendance, individuals are awarded certificates. Likewise, the inter-form competition means the winning form each week receives a certificate. There is also a Reward Trip for students with the highest attendance every year. We run 2 Reward trips, one in January and one in July to reward students with good behaviour and effort in lessons.
