Another fantastic week of sporting and academic achievements to celebrate in the Primary Phase! 🌟

Our HIVE and NEST students took part in a Food Technology activity, lead by one of our Teaching Interns. In the session the students learnt about measuring, ratio, temperature changes when melting the chocolate and marshmallows and their change in state, working as a group. Hygiene, risk management and using kitchen equipment and appliances safely were also discussed 👩‍🍳

Reception class had a fabulous day at South Angle Farm on Wednesday, despite the weather! The children loved meeting an array of animals, from larger farm favourites like goats, pigs, sheep and donkeys to smaller creatures including guinea pigs, a corn snake, a bearded dragon and even a giant millipede 🐖🐏🐍🦎 They enjoyed the hands-on experience of holding, feeding and stroking the animals, before relaxing with a picnic and having lots of fun playing together. A wonderful day full of smiles and new experiences!

We welcomed a cohort of primary ITT trainees to College as part of their training programme. Mrs Davies, Head of Year 7, was joined by a group of pupils to deliver a presentation on the transition process from Year 6 into Year 7. They talked the trainees through how transition works: from initial contact with primary schools, to induction days, to the support systems in place once pupils arrive in September. The pupils shared their own journey of moving up to secondary school, offering personal experiences into what helped them feel prepared, excited, and comfortable ahead of the leap to secondary school. Our Year 7 pupils were outstanding today — confident, articulate and a real credit to Cromwell. They spoke with honesty about their transition and represented the school in an exemplary manner 🌟

Yesterday, a group of our Year 8 students attended The Big Bang Fair at the NEC in Birmingham - the UK's largest celebration of STEM for young people. They enjoyed interactive workshops, hands-on activities and inspirational live science shows! 🔬👩‍🔬

Our Key Stage 1 trip to Hunstanton on Friday was a fantastic day! Year 2 loved the rock pool workshop, especially touching a starfish (and making him poo!). After watching the penguins being fed at the Sea Life Centre, we enjoyed a sunny picnic and had great fun on the beach, building Stonehenge replicas and a shell wall. A wonderful day all round! Year 1 children loved their time on the beach—digging for shells, skimming stones, collecting seaweed and laughing as cheeky seagulls tried to snatch our lunches! We enjoyed a lovely picnic by the sea before heading off for an exciting afternoon exploring the Sea Life centre where we learned about a wide range of sea creatures, their habitats, and the local coastline around Hunstanton. A highlight for many was the chance to gently touch Sandy the starfish—who, thankfully, behaved very well (unlike the starfish encountered by Year 2!). It was a wonderful day filled with curiosity, laughter, and new experiences, and there were smiles all around from both children and staff.

🎨 A Fantastic Creative Afternoon for Year 10 Art! Our Art Department had the pleasure of welcoming Charles from Mandinga Arts for an inspiring Year 10 workshop exploring creative industries and future career pathways. Mandinga Arts, known for their vibrant carnival-inspired costumes, masks and performance pieces, blend theatre, dance and visual arts to create bold, imaginative work seen at festivals and cultural events across the UK. Pupils had the opportunity to handle Mandinga’s incredible headpieces and costumes, learning about the design process before sketching ideas for their own creations. The room was buzzing with colour, curiosity and creativity — a truly fantastic afternoon enjoyed by all! ✨ FREE OPPORTUNITY for Year 10 Art Students! If pupils would like to take part in the free 2 day Mandinga Arts workshops held in school on 6 and 7 June, please contact Mrs Morris, Head of Art. All information has been sent home with students.

A huge well done to all our Cromwell students in Years 7–10 who represented the school at the District Athletics Fixture! They performed brilliantly throughout the day, showing great effort, teamwork, and determination. The year 8's came first and beat all the other schools including the private schools in their overall results 🎉 We’re very proud to have finished second among the state schools- an excellent achievement. Students should all be incredibly proud of themselves.
